ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship for member countries: Outstanding students from ASEAN member nations are encouraged to apply for the ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship, which is a new student scholarship (excluding Singapore). Candidates’ applications for undergraduate admission to NUS will be used to evaluate and select candidates for the scholarship. The scholarship does not need a separate application.

ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship Benefits

Application Process of ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship

  • Through their applications for admission, all applicants for undergraduate admission to NUS will be automatically assessed for the scholarship.
  • If shortlisted, applicants will have their appropriateness for the scholarship evaluated based on the quality of their applications and/or how well they perform in the scholarship selection interview(s).
  • Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email and asked to submit a document outlining their extracurricular activities and other accomplishments as well as a personal statement before the interview (s). Shortlisted candidates will be informed of the results of the scholarship interviews by the middle of July. Selection interviews will take place from January through June.
  • In the event that there are no candidates with adequate merit, NUS maintains the right to not offer any scholarships. The selecting committee’s choice is final. Questions or disagreements over its choices won’t be taken into consideration.

Member countries of ASEAN Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Terms and Conditions

  • The award is for full-time enrollment in an undergraduate study at NUS. Students who are enrolled in concurrent degree programs and double degree programs are also covered by the scholarship, but only for the undergraduate portion of their studies. Students enrolled in the Concurrent Degree Program at NUS Bachelor of Science and University of Melbourne Doctor of Veterinary Medicine are not eligible for the funding.
  • The scholarship is transferable across courses and is valid for the duration of the regular term, with the exception of courses at Yale-NUS College, Dentistry, Law, and Medicine. Note that because of the high level of competition for these programs, there are only a limited number of scholarships available for dentistry, law, and medicine.
  • Although the ASEAN Undergraduate Award does not have a bond, students must accept the MOE Tuition Grant in order to be eligible for the scholarship. In accordance with the rules of the MOE Tuition Grant, Singapore Permanent Residents and overseas students who accept it are obligated to work for a Singapore-registered firm for three years after graduation. Scholars who are accepted into the dental and medical programs must sign a service bond with the Singapore Ministry of Health for a period of five and six years, respectively.
  • Scholarship recipients (scholars) are not permitted to hold another scholarship, fellowship, bursary, grant, award, or allowance at the same time without the university’s prior consent.
  • Every semester, the scholarship will be reviewed and renewed if the recipient maintains a Cumulative Average Point (CAP) of at least 3.5 (or equivalent) and good behavior.
  • Scholars are limited to, participating in one semester in an international program throughout their undergraduate studies, including but not limited to NUS Overseas Colleges and the International Student Exchange Program.
