Eligibility Criteria for Government of Malaysia International Scholarship 2022-23

Graduates from the receiving countries (see guidelines) of MIS 2022 should apply for the Government of Malaysia International Scholarship in 2022/2023.

  • desire to pursue full-time postgraduate studies in Malaysia (Masters/PhD);
  • or are already studying full-time postgraduate studies at Malaysian public universities and select private higher educational institutions.
  • At the time of application for Master’s and PhD levels, is not more than 40 and 45 years old, respectively.
  • Possessing strong academic credentials:
  • CGPA 3.0 / 2nd Class Upper (Honours) or above at Bachelor’s Degree level; CGPA 3.0 / outstanding results at Masters level in courses related to the proposed study programme; PhD applicants: CGPA 3.0 / great performance at Masters level in courses connected to the intended study programme
  • Developing a strong command of the English language:
  • Obtaining an IELTS band 6.0 or above; or a TOEFL paper-based exam (PBT) total score of 550 or higher; or
  • Has previously earned a degree in which English was utilised as the medium of instruction (evidence is a prerequisite).

Scholarship Benefits

  • This scholarship covers tuition expenses as well as a monthly living allowance of RM 1,500.00.
  • Successful candidates will be asked to plan their own trip to Malaysia (non-financial provisions). The Malaysian government will not cover your travel expenditures.
  • It is strongly encouraged that all applicants research the projected living expenditures in Malaysia.
